Meaning of the Hapkido CKA Emblem

Octagon (eight signs of divination)
Represents the universe (nature). The black color is the foundation of the negative Ki energy, one of the principles of positive and negative energy in nature. It represents the absorption of an opponent's balance: breathing and thinking upon making contact.
Inner circle of the octagon (Won) 윈
Represents the principle of the circle, the first of Hapkido's dynamic principles; it expresses circular movement and centrifugal force.
Sides of the octagon (Bang) 박
Represents the principle of the square, the second dynamic principle, used to break an opponent's balance when attacking or defending. It is the centripetal force.
Angular points (Kak) 각
Represents the principle of the triangle, the third dynamic principle: the attack point and the concentration of power in the direction of the attack.
Central aerodynamic (Ryu) 류
Represents the principle of fluidity, connected to both dynamic and physical principles; it symbolizes the channeling of energy through the flow of Ki.
Central circle (Won) 윈
Represents the principle of absorption, the second physical principle of Hapkido: spherical movements that symbolize the continuity of breath and the centripetal force of Ki. The white color is the positive principle and represents the explosive power of the lower-abdomen energy when attacking.
Central symbol (Hwa) 화
Represents the principle of harmony, the first physical principle of Hapkido: the harmony of the circle and the flow of Ki energy with an opponent.
Green color
Clarity and sincerity. Represents the Dojang (the school), the foundation of Hapkido training.
Orange color
Modesty and humility. Represents the Dobok (uniform) of an instructor-ranked black belt.
Dark blue color
Nobility, depth, dignity, and great character. Represents the uniform worn by all CKA members.
